Culinary Arts Experience

 

  • Cooking Club: During independent study, students who have interest in exploring their inner chef are able to participate once a week in cooking club.  Students are introduced to kitchen safety, proper nutrition, and how to prepare meals that can easily be reproduced at home.          

 



  • SLE Culinary Management: Students in this program learn to plan, supervise and manage food and beverage preparation, service operations, restaurant facilities and catering services. They participate in educational experiences for 10 high school credits that encompass relevant topics such as food/beverage industry operations, cost control, purchasing and storage, business administration, logistics, personnel management, culinary arts, restaurant and menu planning, executive chef functions, event planning and management, health and safety, insurance and applicable law and regulations.  Students in this program gain applicable field centered experiences and knowledge that should assist with their transition into employment in the food service industry and pursuit of a ServSafe certification.                                                                  
  • SLE Food Service:Eleventh and twelfth graders in this program participate in paid workplace experiences while earning 15 high school credits for SLE/Career Education coursework.  They apply 21st Century skills within the food service industry.  Students may work in Creative Achievement's kitchen to assist with our food service program and cooking club or event preparations.  They may also seek gainful employment with local restaurants or businesses.
